Terry Gilliam adds Melanie Thierry and Tilda Swinton to 'The Zero Theorem'

We haven't had a new film from Terry Gilliam since 2009's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which many will remember for the impact Heath Ledger's death had on it. But back in August we learned that Gilliam was moving forward with a new project that thankfully has nothing in the world to do with Don Quixote. Titled The Zero Theorem, the sci-fi pic had Christoph Waltz lined up to star, and now the rest of the cast is starting to fill out.

Talking to Le Petit Journal(via ThePlaylist), Babylon A.D.'s Melanie Thierry revealed that she has two new projects on the way. A new one from Denys Arcand(The Barbarian Invasions), and Gilliam's film which apparently also has the great Tilda Swinton on board....

Thierry: "I'll have two big film. The new film by Denys Arcand, who I love. A film on four seasons, shot in real time. And I just signed for the new Terry Gilliam! It should be called 'Zero Theorem,' with Christoph Waltz and Tilda Swinton. I have a great part, a girl completely crazy and funny. It will be great fun to play this chick. I started the coaching and the shoot begins in November. I went back to the English lessons, because my English must be perfect, though Gilliam says he likes my "frenchness"! It will be a wonderful experience."

I like her "frenchness", too. Thierry's a wonderful young actress, and should fare well against two acting heavyweights like Swinton and Waltz. Typical for a Malick film, The Zero Theorem has a pretty far out premise. The film takes place in an Orwellian society where Waltz plays a computer genius and cloistered monk who is trying to discover the meaning of all existence. Thierry will probably play his sexy love interest who keeps distracting him with virtual sex. Leth's investigation earns the unwanted attention of Management, who aim to shut him down.

Filming on The Zero Theorem is slated to begin next month. As for the Arcand film, it will be his first since 2007's Days of Darkness, and hopefully we'll learn more about it soon.
