New 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters' red band trailer

There's actually a really cool and inventive premise at the heart of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, which is that the fairy tale kids who survived getting cooked in an oven grew up as well-armed soldiers in the fight against covens everywhere. But as last month's trailer proved, just having a great idea doesn't always mean it'll translate effectively to the big screen, as the finished product directed by Tommy Wirkola(Dead Snow) looked flat out ridiculous.

If you thought it was bad before, take the same shoddy CGI effects and awful one-liners, throw in buckets of bad digital blood and you've got the newly released red band trailer. Starring a bored-looking Jeremy Renner and a practically comatose Gemma Arterton("My...name..is..Gretel...zzzzz") as the titular duo, the film takes place fifteen years after the story we all remember from our childhood, as they use technologically advanced weaponry to take out witches wherever they may be hiding.

This could end up being a fun, guilty pleasure, but right now it just looks ugly and laugh-free. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters opens in 3D on January 11th 2013....[IGN]
