The international trailer for Leos Carax's Holy Motors came out back in May, and it was pretty much impossible to make heads or tails out of then. Funny thing is, after turning up at a few film festivals in the meantime, it appears that critics still haven't been able to crack that walnut. Now a new domestic trailer for the oddball film has been released, and it's just as confusing as ever.
Denis Lavant stars as Monsieur Oscar, a man who over the course of a single day shifts into various forms as he meets a weird assortment of screwed up characters. One minute he's a captain of industry, a gypsy crone, or a killer on the prowl. Eva Mendes turns up in all her glamour, while Kylie Minogue sing-songs her way through the incomprehensible jumble. Nothing seems to connect or make much sense, but the Carax has outdone himself visually, as each frame is sexy, vibrant, and emotionally charged.
Holy Motors recently turned up on my top must-see indie films list, so for me November 9th can't get here soon enough. Check out the trailer below....
