Watch a 9-minute clip from 'Mass Effect: Paragon Lost'

While the long-developing Mass Effect live-action film finally seems to be gaining steam, long before that ever rolls in front of cameras fans of the hit video game will be treated to Mass Effect: Paragon Lost. An animated prequel to the awesome Mass Effect 3, and largely follows the hard-nosed Alliance Marine James Vega, voiced by Freddie Prinze.

Funimation has released a 9-minute clip from the film, which follows Vega and his squad's ongoing battle against the alien Collectors, who are key threats throughout the franchise. His team's mission is to protect a colony located in a remote star system, preventing an invasion designed to harvest the populace for mysterious purposes.  The animation is solid, the action looks as intense as the video game, and we even get a look at the warmongering Krogans.

Mass Effect: Paragon Lost hits DVD/Blu-Ray on December 28th. Check out the clip below, then pre-order your copy here.
