Hugh Jackman in talks to return for 'X-men: Days of Future Past'
Hey, you remember that scene in X-men: First Class when Hugh Jackman made a cameo as Wolverine just so he could tell Charles Xavier(James McAvoy) and Magneto(Michael Fassbender) go f**k themselves? Get ready for more mutant vulgarity, because it sounds like Jackman will be popping his claws in the sequel, X-men: Days of Future Past.
THR reports that Jackman is in talks to reprise his role as the feral Canadian mutant, which should come as no surprise with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen confirmed to show up as the older versions of Xavier and Magneto. Jackman's currently filming The Wolverine, and with rumors circulating that Famke Janssen is in it, and Bryan Singer talking about how connected these films may be, I think we can safely assume that all of these movies will tie-in to the original trilogy.
The storyline is pretty confusing, just like the original comic it was based on. Basically it hops between the present and a possible future when mutants are hunted and put in internment camps. The reason is an event in the present, where a villainous Mystique leads the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, assassinating Senator Robert Kelly and forcing the government to crack down. An X-man from the future returns to the present in order to warn the X-men of the importance of their mission. Yeah, it can get kinda bonkers, but they'll probably make some significant changes so it's easier to follow.
X-men: Days of Future Past opens on July 18th 2014.
