Yesterday saw the emergence of a pretty friggin' big rumor, but a rumor nonetheless, that had Joseph Gordon-Levitt donning the cape and cowl of Batman in Justice League. The story went on to say that he, along with possibly another actor from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, would be turning up even sooner, like in Man of Steel. Well, Hollywood.com say they "checked in with Gordon-Levitt’s reps who have refuted the rumor entirely." The site bolded that last bit for emphasis, I guess, in case we somehow missed the point.
Well, duh. Of course they denied it, but I wish we had an exact quote from the reps themselves so we could see if any finessing of the answer was going on. So right now we have what is the film news equivalent of a he said/she said scenario. The truth will play out eventually, but my fingers are crossed we'll see JGL as Batman, and I'm betting the suits at Warner Bros. have their fingers crossed, too.
