It's been nothing but diminishing returns from the Broken Lizard gang, ever since they became overnight successes with the wildly overrated cop comedy, Super Troopers. This year sees them with two movies coming out, the first was The Babymakers, a terrible laugh-free experience about robbing a sperm bank. And now next month sees the release of Freeloaders, and it doesn't look too promising, either.
Directed by Dan Rosen(The Curve), the film centers on six friends living it up in luxury in the rock star mansion of Counting Crows' Adam Duritz(playing himself, naturally). But they see their cushy lifestyle threatened when Adam decides to sell the place, and the gang must figure out a way to keep the good time's rolling. Apparently that means allowing a porn production of Ass Pirates of the Caribbean to take place. This looks pretty horrible, although there could be some fun with Clifton Collins Jr., Jane Seymour, Dave Foley, Denise Richards, Nat Faxon, and Olivia Munn as part of the ensemble. Just trying to come up with something nice to say.
Freeloaders hits VOD on December 11th, then opens in theaters January 2013....[ET]
