Mark Wahlberg confirmed for 'Transformers 4'; new logo revealed

So...first a rumor surfaced that Michael Bay had pegged his Pain and Gain star Mark Wahlberg for Transformers 4. He quickly denied it, saying they were working on some secret project he still hasn't told us about. Then yesterday Bay started to make noises that maybe Wahlberg would be a perfect choice, after all. And now we have a confirmation that Wahlberg will indeed take over the lead in Transformers 4. There ya go.

Bay issued a press release on his blog where he of course had nothing but praise for Wahlberg's skills....

“Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on “Pain and Gain” and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy."

Along with the announcement came a new logo, which features the number '4' and half of the Decepticon insignia. There are still a lot of questions as to the direction the next chapter will go. We know it will feature an all-new cast and may head to the planet Cybertron, and there's been other rumors about potential casting kicked around. We'll see what happens. Filming begins next spring for release on June 27th 2014.
