Despite The Chronicles of Riddick proving to be a box office disappointment a few years ago, Vin Diesel and series director David Twohy fought hard for a third chapter in their Pitch Black series, titled Riddick. Financing the film themselves, they got the 'R' rating they felt the devoted fans of the franchise deserved, and next year we'll see the battle-tested warrior with the shiny eyes in his toughest test yet.
A cool new international poster for Riddick has been revealed, and it appears to show him in the desolate alien planet he's stranded on for much of the story. On the run from the native predatory creatures, his only chance for escape is to activate an emergency beacon that alerts the universe's most dangerous assassins to his whereabouts. Karl Urban is back reprising his role as Lord Vaako, with Katee Sackhoff, Dave Bautista, Jordi Molla, Bokeem Woodbine, and Nolan Funk part of the cast.
No release date yet, but Universal plans to release the film some time next year.[Cineheroes]
