1st look at Shia Labeouf and Evan Rachel Wood in 'The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman'

Well, Rupert Grint said that a Sundance bow was in the works for The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, the directorial debut from Fredrik Bond that stars Shia LaBeouf and Evan Rachel Wood. He wasn't wrong, as earlier today the film was announced as part of Sundance's Premieres section, and to go along with it we've got a first photo.

The image showcases LaBeouf and Wood getting close, with the dude sporting a rather knotty rat tail and a scruffy beard. Why she'd fall for a guy who looks like that is beyond me, but then again we don't know if she actually does. LaBeouf plays Charlie Countryman, who resolves to do whatever it takes to win the heart of Gabi, the ex of a violent crime boss played by Mads Mikkelsen. This one's got an amazing roster of talent, with Aubrey Plaza, Melissa Leo, Til Schweiger, and the aforementioned Grint, along with a Black List script by Matt Drake(Project X).

The Sundance Film Festival begins on January 17th.
