A.C.O.D. stands for "Adult Children of Divorce", and that's exactly what Adam Scott is in the new comedy from director Stuart Zicherman. Scott plays a well-adjusted adult who discovers he was part of a divorce study as a child. Mom and Dad must've forgot to tell him about that little episode. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clark Duke, Amy Poehler, Richard Jenkins, and Catherine O'Hara make for what should be one hilarious supporting cast.
I've been unable to figure out what to make of The Inevitable Defeat of Mr. and Pete, the new film from director George Tillman Jr.(Faster), starring the likes of Anthony Mackie, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, and Jeffrey Wright. The film follows two inner-city kids separated from their mothers and forced to fend for themselves on the Brooklyn streets one summer. Newcomers Skylan Brooks and Ethan Dizon will play the two kids.
Lake Bell made an impression at last year's Sundance with the indie horror Black Rock, and now she's back with In a World...., marking her directorial debut. Bell stars alongside Rob Corddry, Demitri Martin, and Ken Marino in a story about "an underachieving vocal coach is motivated by her father, the king of movie-trailer voice-overs, to pursue her aspirations of becoming a voiceover star. Amidst pride, sexism and family dysfunction, she sets out to change the voice of a generation."
Here's hoping the talents of Kathryn Hahn(Wanderlust), Juno Temple, Josh Radnor, Jane Lynch, and Annie Mumolo(Bridesmaids) are enough to catapult Afternoon Delight beyond it's treacly premise. Hahn plays a lost L.A. housewife who puts her cushy lifestyle at risk by taking in a stripper to serve as her live-in nanny.
