Carey Mulligan and Leonardo DiCaprio get close in new look at 'The Great Gatsby'
Already packed the friggin' gills, December once had a much deeper bench of movies than this. As the month drew near, a number of films fled for other pastures, perhaps fearing the competition would cut too deep into the bottom line, or because the films just weren't quite polished enough yet. In the case of Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, which some were pegging as a potential Oscar contender, it was additional filming that required the bump down to next spring.
A new image from the anticipated adaptation has been released, serving as a reminder of just how amazing it could potentially be. Obviously based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic that devotees like me have read far too often(while some of my old classmates shamefully opted for Cliffs Notes), the image shows Leonardo DiCaprio as the mysterious Jay Gatsby and Carey Mulligan as the very-married Daisy Buchanan staring longingly at one another. The rest of the cast is equally top tier, with Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Jason Clarke, Isla Fisher, Elizabeth Debicki, and Adelaide Clemens on board.
The Great Gatsby opens in 3D(still !?!) next year on May 10th.
