I think there's quite a bit of Stephen King influence on both The Walking Dead and J.J. Abrams' Super 8, so it makes sense that the child stars of both should team up on an adaptation of the horror author's work. Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl Grimes on the hit AMC zombie series will join Super 8's Joel Courtney in Mercy, based on the King short story, Gramma.
Written by Matt Greenberg(1408) and directed by Peter Cornwell(The Haunting in Connecticut), the story follows two brothers who along with their mother go to stay with their seriously ill grandmother, only to discover that she's a witch and made a dark pact with the devil. Should make for some awkward dinner conversation, especially if there's a cauldron as the centerpiece.
Frances O'Connor(Timeline), who I've adored for years, is set to play the mother, but the grandma role sounds like it could be pretty juicy. [THR]
