Take a dose of the new poster for Steven Soderbergh's 'Side Effects'
For the most part it's been a pretty terrible year for movie posters. Most are either badly Photoshopped collages, while others are just official photos plastered over bland backgrounds. But if the slick new one-sheet for Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects is any example, 2013 could should see the fine art of movie marketing bounce back.
Sporting a cool prescription label design that gets the film's point across without being heavy-handed, the image puts star Rooney Mara front and center draped in pill bottle red. While the tagline is certainly a little ominous, most curious to me is the "Indication" line at the bottom: "A doctor's most important prescription is trust."
Mara stars as a woman who deals with the anxiety caused by her husband's return from prison by turning to prescription drugs. Channing Tatum plays her man, while Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones round out the cast. If the poster's simple design seems a little familiar, it's because it was done by the same guy who designed The Social Network's promos. Side Effects opens on February 8th 2013. [HuffPo]
