Aaron Johnson offered lead in 'Godzilla'
There's been a bounty of Godzilla news lately, finally taking advantage of the heat generated by the promo revealed at Comic-Con last summer. Recently we learned that Frank Darabont was taking a pass at the screenplay, and that a number of actors had been shortlisted for the lead role. But according to Deadline it won't be any of those guys who get the gig, as Aaron Johnson has been made an offer to star.
Johnson, who just recently finished up with Kick-Ass 2, is the top choice to take on the role. Henry Cavill, Caleb Landry Jones, and Scoot McNairy were recently vying for it, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt having turned it down some time ago. Playing it smart, Johnson is going to table his decision until he reads Darabont's rewrite.
I'm sure you have a pretty good idea what Godzilla is all about, so just imagine that on a much bigger scale and directed by Gareth Evans(Monsters). If everthing pans out, we'll see the monster stomp into theaters on May 16th 2014.
