Bradley Cooper to star in WWI thriller 'Dark Invasion'
Who had a big night at the Golden Globes yesterday? Bradley Cooper did, that's who. Basically, everyone involved with Silver Linings Playbook had an evening worth celebrating, and as the film finally expands nationwide this week, studios are already calling in hopes of snatching up the cast for follow-up projects.
Bradley Cooper is set to star in Dark Invasion, WWI-era thriller based on an upcoming novel by Howard Blum. Warner Bros. paid a hefty price to nab the rights specifically for Cooper to lead, so it's clear they see this as a major tentpole film worth investing in. The story is based on a true tale set in 1915 when the Germans were using their Secret Service in any way possible to prevent the United States from joining the Allies, including setting up anthrax labs, bombings, and assassination. Cooper will play NYPD Captain Tom Tunney who puts together a team to find the German spies.
The book hits store shelves on September 11th. After you check out Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook, get ready to see him again in Derek Cianfrance's The Place Beyond the Pines. [Deadline]
