Joseph Gordon-Levitt joins 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For', turns down 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
Remember just a few hours ago we were talking about how Joseph Gordon-Levitt is wanted by every studio for pretty much everything? This was just as it was reported he had been offered a shot at the Godzilla lead, but turned it down. Well, now he's moved on from Guardians of the Galaxy, which Marvel had been eying him for, and has instead turned his attention to Robert Rodriguez's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
Deadline reports he'll take on a new character named Johnny, a cocky gambler who disguises a darker mission to destroy his most foul enemy at his best game. Johnny Depp had been offered the role at some point, but it's Gordon-Levitt who will fit it into his extremely busy schedule. He joins Dennis Haysbert, Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Jamie Chung, Crystal McCahill, Jamie King, along with Clive Owen and Bruce Willis who are expected to return at some point. Josh Brolin has also turned up as a possibility.
There are four overlapping stories that will make up the bulk of the story, with A Dame to Kill For the centerpiece. Rodriguez is still looking for an A-lister to play the part of sexy seductress Ava Lord, when once he had been actively courting Angelina Jolie. With filming already well underway, that's the news that I'm most eager for. Gordon-Levitt will be at Sundance next week to premiere his directorial debut, Don Jon's Addiction.
