Play ball! New trailer for Jackie Robinson biopic, '42'
"You will remember me". Jackie Robinson isn't just a legendary figure in our history, he's a transformative one. Biopics for men of that stature rarely measure up to their subject's greatness, but judging by the look of this new trailer, Brian Helgeland's 42 may be the exception to the rule.
Following up on the promising trailer from last fall, the latest one provides a deeper look at the remarkable story, and also the performance of newcomer Chadwick Boseman in what had to have been a daunting role. Harrison Ford plays Brooklyn Dodgers exec Branch Rickey, who brought Robinson into the league and helped him endure the threats and controversy that followed. The film looks more thrilling than your average sports movie, as it should considering the stakes involved are so much greater than just winning a championship. Nicole Beharie, Lucas Black, Chris Meloni, and John McGinley make for an impressive ensemble.
With spring and the baseball season right around the corner, 42 couldn't have picked a better time to open than April 12th. Check out the trailer below....
