Toldya? Latest 'X-men: Days of Future Past' rumor has Peter Dinklage as Bolivar Trask
Theories have been flying around as to who Peter Dinklage would be in X-men: Days of Future Past, and my own has been that he would be playing a member of the Trask family. The Trasks are humans whose patriarch, Bolivar Trask, created the Sentinels, and they frequently pop up with some newer version of the mutant-hunting robots. If MTV Geek's source is accurate, then Dinklage will indeed be playing Bolivar Trask.
Trask was introduced in Uncanny X-men #14 way back in 1965 as an inventor with a hatred for mutants. This was despite his two children being mutants. Bolivar created the Sentinels as a means for humanity to protect itself, which leads to him going up against the X-men. But once the Sentinels adapt and turn on him, Bolivar sees the error of his ways before sacrificing himself. There are elements of his story which were incorporated into William Stryker's in X2, so they'd likely make a few changes.
Of course, there's the issue of Trask already being in an X-men movie, played by Bill Duke X-men: The Last Stand. Duke and Dinklage are both terrific actors, but not good enough to convince anyone they could ever be blood relation, much less the same guy....
See what I mean? There are ways around that, I suppose, especially considering all of the time travel. And this is all just rumor right now. I can't help but start thinking of other villains with close ties to the Sentinels, though. Maybe....Bastion?
