Chevy Chase is a tough guy to figure out. After talking himself out of a regular gig on NBC's Community, the legendary funny man is now reversing course on his earlier stance against appearing in the remake/sequel to Vacation, arguably the film he's most recognized for.
Variety reports that Chase and Beverly D'Angelo are up for returning as Clark and Ellen Griswold, who thirty years ago took their son Rusty and daughter Audrey on a chaotic family vacation. The new version, written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (Horrible Bosses), will feature a grown up Rusty played by Ed Helms, with Christina Applegate as his wife.
Chase and D'Angelo have been hovering around a return to the Griswold clan for awhile, recently appearing in a holiday ad for Old Navy. Part of Chase's reluctance to return had to do with him drafting his own script for a follow-up, but it appears that ship has sailed and he's ready to come back, even if only just for a cameo.
