Gary Oldman joins Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace in 'Child 44'
It's becoming old hat to see Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman in the same film. Already having worked together on Lawless, The Dark Knight Rises, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, the two must have a cozy working relationship at this point, which is why they're about to team up again in the promising Cold War drama, Child 44.
Set in the 1950s Soviet Union, Hardy plays a disgraced MGB agent investigating the case of a serial child murderer who may have connections at the top of Stalin's regime. Noomi Rapace plays Hardy's mysterious, secretive wife, while Joel Kinnaman is his violent nemesis. As for Oldman, he'll play the head of police who begin to suspect Hardy's character.
The film is directed by Daniel Espinosa, with a script by Richard Price, adapted from Tom Rob Smith's novel. Production is slated to begin this summer. [THR]
