New clip from 'The Place Beyond the Pines' with Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper
I've said it here before, but you really want to walk into Derek Cianfrance's The Place Beyond the Pines knowing as little as possible. A dramatically ambitious film that evolves and takes unexpected turns, learning anything beyond the bare bones logline could ruin everything. All you really need going in is to know that it stars Ryan Gosling as a stunt motorcyclist who takes to robbing banks to provide for the son he never knew he had. In yet another strong turn by Bradley Cooper, he plays a rookie cop with bigger ambitions, who runs across Gosling's character, kicking off a feud spanning generations.
A new clip has been released, and I think it's pretty tough to decipher without proper context. We see Cooper's character pleading forgiveness to a distraught Eva Mendes, while also trying to make amends with her. My suggestion is that you watch this only to check out the mood and flavor of the scene, as it's constant throughout the film. Also, do yourself a favor and avoid too many still images, some of which are a tad spoilery.
The Place Beyond the Pines opens on March 29th. Stay on the look out for my interview with Cianfrance coming up in a few days. [via ThePlaylist]
