New clip from 'Spring Breakers' is from another planet ya'll
"Why ya'll actin' spishus"? You already know that we're convulsing with excitement over Spring Breakers, and a large part of the reason is James Franco's "Dirty South" inspired dialect as the drug dealer known as Alien. In a career that has been marked with some oddball performances, he had two of them at Sundance alone, this one looks like the weirdest of all.
It's perfect that this new clip has emerged right now, just as Franco is lighting up the box office in Oz the Great and Powerful, because it shows just how hard he is to pin down in the roles he chooses. The clip introduces us to Alien, a cornrowed, gold-grilled criminal who bales out Vanessa Hudgens, Rachel Korine, Ashley Benson, and a wary Selena Gomez from prison before taking them on the wildest spring break of their lives.
The wait's almost over. Spring Breakers goes wide on March 22nd, but opens in LA and New York a week earlier. You might want to considering picking up the soundtrack, composed by Skrillex and Cliff Martinez, which features Franco rappin' with Dangeruss on the track "Hangin' with da Dopeboys".
