New trailer for Susanne Bier's 'Love is All You Need' with Pierce Brosnan
Known mostly for her tough, weighty dramas like After the Wedding, Things We Lost in the Fire, and the Academy Award-winning In a Better World, Susanne Bier has yet to become a household name here in the United States. That may change later this year when she unveils Serena, the Depression-era tale reteaming Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. But before that, Bier is venturing into light romantic comedy territory with Love is All You Need, and a new trailer for it has been released.
Starring Pierce Brosnan and Trine Dyrholm, the film mostly centers on Ida, a hairdresser who discovers her husband's infidelity soon after completing breast cancer treatment. Heading off to southern Italy for her daughter's wedding, she literally crashes into the groom's father (Brosnan), a man looking to get over his wife's tragic death.
While Brosnan and Dyrholm look to be doing solid work, the real star is the gorgeous Italian locale, which Bier is more than happy to show off. Otherwise this looks like an airy, inoffensive charmer. Love is All You Need opens here on May 3rd. I'm seeing the film later today and hope to have an interview with Bier soon.
