Sure Shots: Michael Angarano; Rufus Sewell; Reese Witherspoon

* Jason Statham's remake of Burt Reynolds' Heat continues to roll along, although with Simon West directing, the chances are it will look like all of the actors' previous films. Earlier this month Sofia Vergara joined Statham in the film, and now The Brass Teapot and Haywire star Michael Angarano is the latest to sign up. The story centers on a Las Vegas gambling addict who seeks revenge on those who beat his friend. Angarano will play a soft-hearted guy who Statham toughens up along the way. [Deadline]

* Ever since playing the good guy in Alex Proyas' Dark City, Rufus Sewell has become the go-to guy for playing really nasty villains. He'll do it yet again as part of Brett Ratner's Hercules, starring alongside Dwayne Johnson in the comic book adaptation about the Greek hero. Sewell will play Autolycus, Hercules' former trainer who ultimately betrays him, framing him for the theft of cattle. The film will have Hercules renouncing his immortality and becoming a mercenary for hire. [Deadline]

* Reese Witherspoon is set to produce and possibly star in an adaptation of J. Courtney Sullivan's upcoming novel, The Engagements. Fox2000 is picking up the rights to the book, a romance involving multiple relationships spanning decades, all connected by one diamond engagement ring in surprising and unexpected ways.
