Susan Boyle to make feature debut in holiday film 'The Christmas Candle'

There's already a biopic about reality TV star-turned bestselling singer Susan Boyle, but before that ever happens she'll be doing a bit of acting first. THR reports she has joined the cast of the holiday film, The Christmas Candle, making her feature film debut alongside Les Miserables star Samantha Barks.

Directed by John Stephenson, the film is based on the Max Lucado novella, set in 1890, and deals with the implications of a missing Christmas candle. Holiday miracles, wishes come true, angels, and other various human dramas make up what is described as a timeless and inspirational story. Lesley Manville (Another Year), Hans Matheson, James Cosmo, John Hannah, Sylvester McCoy, and  Barbara Flynn co-star in the film written by Eric Newman and Candace Lee.

The Christmas Candle will be opening in the U.K., probably some time this Christmas. It's unclear what exactly Boyle's role is, but it sounds as if she's already having a good time....

Boyle: "I'm really enjoying getting dressed in the period costumes and stepping back in time, and although it's very cold filming on location, I'm wearing long johns under my bustle."
