The Hulk will be back for 'The Avengers 2', but Mark Ruffalo says no solo film

It seems like those deeply connected to The Avengers films can't stop swatting down rumors about the Hulk. You may recall a recent story saying the "Jade Giant" would be getting his own solo film after The Avengers 2, with a storyline that closely resembled Planet Hulk. It was debunked twice soon after, including once by Joss Whedon. Now the guy who actually plays the Hulk, Mark Ruffalo, has stepped in to address the issue personally.

Taking to his Twitter page, Ruffalo shot down any idea of a solo Hulk film, but did confirm when we'd see him next...

"A lot of folks have been asking about the Next Hulk. The next time you see my Hulk it will be in the Avengers 2. No plans for stand alone."

"I am not giving up on another stand alone HULK. But it’s not in the works right now. One never knows what the future will bring."

So it sounds like a solo spinoff is something Ruffalo definitely wants, and I'm betting he gets his wish at some point. The Hulk, at least in the comics, never sticks around on the Avengers roster for very long. He's too much of a danger and loose cannon, often going off to do his own thing. Marvel's Kevin Feige actually made a comment recently to SFX about the team and its ever-shifting roster, saying he and Joss Whedon are big fans of it....

Feige: “I think it’s not a secret that Joss and I and all of us at Marvel think that part of the fun of Avengers is the rotating team, for sure."

Don't be surprised if the the team looks vastly different by the time The Avengers 3 rolls around.
