New trailer and poster for Baz Luhrmann's 'The Great Gatsby'

Warner Bros. certainly hasn't lost confidence in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, despite rumors of a troubled production that knocked it from a potential Oscar-qualifying position down to next May. Nor has excitement for the glitzy, star-studded adaptation dwindled elsewhere as the film will open the Cannes Film Festival a week after it releases here in the U.S. That's no small feat, and speaks to Luhrmann's international appeal, and the power of the amazing cast he's pulled together. But will the film be a success on the level of his Moulin Rouge, or will it fall a little flat like Australia?

A new trailer and one-sheet for the jazzy take on F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic has been released, complete with brand new music from Beyonce. The question that has plagued all of Luhrmann's films is whether or not the blending of contemporary hits with period drama will connect with audiences. He's found greater success with it than most, and will get no shortage of help from Jay-Z, who exec-produces and has contributed to the soundtrack.

With Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, and more living the lavish life in the jazz era, The Great Gatsby is going to have a ton of eyes on it.  Look for it to hit theaters on in 3D on May 10th.
