First Teaser for 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' Pulls Some New Tricks

Few would have anticipated Dreamworks having a new franchise on their hands with 2010's How to Train Your Dragon, but after earning a cool $500M, suddenly that's exactly what the studio had. Not only did they begin work on a sequel, bringing back director Dean DeBlois, but also on a TV series currently running on the Cartoon Network. With How to Train Your Dragon 2 opening right into the thick of the summer blockbuster season, Dreamworks needs the film to soar just as high as the last one, and the new teaser trailer looks like that may just happen.

Showing off the high-flying action that was so much a part of the first film, the teaser introduces us to an older Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) in his newly-designed suit of armor, soaring through the air atop his dragon pal, Toothless. The suit isn't just for show, as Hiccup reveals its primary ability which will likely come in handy at some point. What we know of the plot is that it takes place five years later as Hiccup, Astrid (America Ferrera), and others discover a hidden ice cage with hundreds of dragons they've never seen before. They'll also seek to discover the identity of the mysterious Dragon Rider.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 takes flight on June 20th 2014.
