Taron Egerton and Michael Caine Join 'The Secret Service'; Emma Watson and Bella Heathcote Eyed for Roles

With Matthew Vaughn no longer hip deep in the world of the X-men, he's turned his attention back to adapting the graphic novels of his buddy, Mark Millar. After the duo paired up for Kick-Ass, Vaughn began work on bringing Millar's The Secret Service to the big screen, and with Colin Firth set to play a super spy in the espionage flick, the rest of the cast is beginning to fall into line.

Variety reports that newcomer Taron Egerton has taken the other male lead in the film, which follows a James Bond-esque spy who must survive the most dangerous mission of his career while training his young nephew in the ways of MI6. Egerton is almost a total newcomer, so it's a shock that he beat out the likes of Jack O'Connell (Unbroken) and John Boyega (Attack the Block). With only one TV credit to his name, and considering the rest of the talent targeted to join him, this could be a career-making role. Rumors have been going around for days that Michael Caine would be co-starring as the head of Firth's spy organization, and Millar recently confirmed it. The search is now on for the female lead, and the frontrunners are said to be Emma Watson and Bella Heathcote.

Co-written by Vaughn and Jane Goldman, The Secret Service is dated to open on November 14th 2014.
