New Posters for 'Gravity', 'All Is Lost', 'Don Jon', and 'Kill Your Darlings'
Alfonso Cuaron's deep space sci-fi film Gravity has now had its premier at Venice, and so far the early reviews are glowing. It's still a little ways off for the rest of us, although it will continue to hit festivals in Toronto and possibly Telluride this weekend. So for now settle in with this new poster featuring co-star George Clooney, who stars alongside Sandra Bullock as astronauts adrift in space after an accident destroys their base. Don't let go, George...don't ever let go. Gravity hits theaters on October 4th.
Meanwhile, Robert Redford is in a seemingly hopeless situation of his own in All Is Lost, the latest from Margin Call director J.C. Chandor. As the poster image spells out pretty clear, Redford plays a man lost at sea on a sinking ship, doing anything and everything to survive. The film opens on October 18th, but not before hitting a couple more festivals.
Here's a new Japanese one-sheet for Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut, Don Jon (formerly Don Jon's Addiction), which I didn't think would even play over there but apparently it is. The film follows the titular playboy who attempts to break his habit of objectifying women when he meets the perfect gal, played by Scarlett Johansson. I had an interview with JGL earlier today where I called the film "High Fidelity with lots of porn". He seemed to get a kick out of that. Don Jon co-stars Julianne Moore, Tony Danza, Brie Larson, Glenn Headley, and opens September 27th.
Dane DeHaan and Daniel Radcliffe front the striking first poster for Kill Your Darlings, which has the red hot actors as two members of the famed Beat Generation: Lucien Carr and Allen Ginsberg. John Krokidas makes his directorial debut retelling the story of the singular event that would unite the Beats, as they rallied to protect Carr after a wild night ended in murder. Jack Huston plays Beat hero Jack Kerouac, Ben Foster is William Burroughs, and the rest of the impressive cast consists of Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Jason Leigh, David Cross, and Elizabeth Olsen. I caught the film at Sundance and dug it, singling out the performances in my review. Kill Your Darlings opens on October 18th.
