First Look at Meryl Streep In 'Into the Woods'
Following up on the $1B-grossing Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Rob Marshall has decided to go back to his musical roots with an adaptation of Broadway play Into the Woods. The star-studded fantasy film doesn't arrive until next year's holiday season, but production is now underway in London and the marketing push has begun with the first official image.
Meryl Streep is the centerpiece of initial photo as The Witch, one of the key fairy tale characters to make an appearance in the film. James Corden and Emily Blunt play The Baker and his wife, who are desperate to have a child, only to learn that the Witch has cursed them with the inability to do so. The only way for them to break the spell is to make the dangerous journey into the woods and find the ingredients the Witch needs to restore her beauty. Disney has rounded up a number of stars to play the many storybook characters they'll meet along the way, such as Johnny Depp as The Big Bad Wolf, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, and Chris Pine as Prince Charming.
Into the Woods takes the stage on Christmas Day 2014.
