Quentin Tarantino Won't Play Roger Corman in 'The Man With Kaleidoscope Eyes'
Joe Dante's biopic on B-movie king Roger Corman, The Man with Kaleidoscope Eyes, has been in development for years, and finally seems to headed towards production. For real this time, at least according to TheDissolve. Corman is set to make a cameo in the film, which will look at his amazing career through a comedic slant. But that's not really the big news about the project that broke today, as The Telegraph claimed that none other than Quentin Tarantino would take on the role of Corman.
While it would be fascinating to see Tarantino try and play Corman since the two couldn't be more different, the story proved to be false. Thompson on Hollywood reached out to Dante who shot down the story himself...
Dante: "Quentin is a great filmmaker and a good friend, however there is absolutely no truth to the stories in the press and on the web that he is going to play Roger Corman in my upcoming film 'The Man with Kaleidoscope Eyes.'"
The Tarantino bit might have been false, but The Telegraph did get Corman to drop a quote about what the film will entail....
Corman: "It’s the story of how I made The Trip in the 1960s about LSD. It starred Jack Nicholson in one of his first roles and I took LSD so I knew what it was all about. It was very controversial but it was the only American picture invited to the Cannes Film Festival that year."
Colin Firth was attached to play Corman at one point, and maybe they can get him back now that Dante's got it rolling again.
