Rumors began to emerge about a month ago that Beckham was taking on a role in the comic book adaptation, which stars Colin Firth as an MI6 super spy, forced to take his nephew (newcomer Taron Egerton) under his wing during a critical mission. Nothing has been confirmed as to whether Beckham is on board, and certainly this Swift news should be taken with an entire salt lick considering the source. They go on to add a few detail about her role, though, saying it would have her going toe-to-toe with the film's villain, played by Samuel L. Jackson. It would also require her to undergo extensive martial arts training, which should have her numerous former flames quaking in their boots. What if she decides to express her heartache physically rather than through song?
While it doesn't state it specifically, presumably Swift would be taking on the role that Emma Watson and Bella Heathcote were said to be circling only recently. That would be mighty depressing if Swift managed to beat the two of them out. The story says Swift was chose because she's a "natural" and "unseen in Hollywood terms", which is ludicrous on its face. Besides the fact that she's virtually inescapable, she's appeared in three films already, including 2010's Valentine's Day, and voiced one of the main characters in The Lorax.
Believe it or not? I'm leaning towards the latter. Michael Caine is also on board for The Secret Service, which is set to open on November 14th 2014.
