Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise Could Reteam for 'Go Like Hell'
It's been a long stretch since the first and last time Tom Cruise worked together, way back as pale bloodsuckers in Interview with the Vampire, and obviously a lot has changed for them both. Both are much bigger stars, although perhaps not as big as they once were, but still A-listers and box office champs. So now their teaming up would be a much bigger deal, and it could be about to happen in a project Pitt was attached to once before.
According to THR, Pitt is being sought for a role in Go Like Hell, which Cruise and director Joseph Kosinski took over from Michael Mann a couple of months ago. The film is based on A.J. Baime's book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans, set in the 1960s during the battle between Ford and Ferrari for control of the sports car industry. Cruise is set to play Carroll Shelby, a race car driver who helped them design a car that was sleek enough to compete with the Europeans. Pitt had been set for the lead back when Mann was involved, but in order to get him back now the newly re-written script is going to have to pass muster. If you paid attention to the many trials and tribulations of World War Z it's clear Pitt won't accept any old thing.
Too soon for another race car movie after Rush's ho-hum performance earlier this year? Maybe, but that film didn't have the star wattage Go Like Hell would command.
