Paul Rudd in Talks for Marvel's 'Ant-Man'

Paul Rudd isn't just one of the funniest guys in Hollywood, he's also quite the teller of tall tales. For months he's been rumored for the title role in Marvel's Ant-Man, along with Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who is busy with Sandman now), and in that time he's shot down those talks repeatedly, saying just last week....

"Oh, that's all rumor, man. There's nothing I know, sorry."

Maybe it's true that he didn't know anything then, but now we know he's officially in talks, with The Wrap saying the role is that of Hank Pym, and not one of the two other characters that have taken on the Ant-Man mantle. Edgar Wright is directing, co-writing the script with Joe Cornish of Attack the Block fame, and the film has been in development since before Iron Man in 2008.

Good move? Bad move? Rudd's comic gifts should be a pretty good mix with Wright, who has combined action and comedy pretty well in all of his Simon Pegg/Nick Frost collaborations, but most especially in The World's End. Ant-Man is set to open on July 31st 2015
