The breakout success of Melissa McCarthy in Bridesmaids opened up a wealth of opportunities for her, including the chance to take on a pet project, Tammy. McCarthy co-wrote the script with her husband Ben Falcone, who also serves as director, and the film also stars Susan Sarandon, Allison Janney, Mark Duplass, Gary Cole, Toni Collette, Kathy Bates, Nat Faxon, and Dan Akroyd.
USA Today has released the first image of McCarthy and Sarandon, in the film about a woman having the worst day of her life. She's lost her job, her husband's just been caught cheating, and so she tries to get the heck out of town. The only problem is she has no money and no car, but her grandmother pearl does, and they book it on a road trip to Niagara Falls. It looks like, for once, McCarthy may not be the crazy one in this scenario.
Tammy opens on July 2nd 2014.
