Interview: Ashley Bell Talks Playing a 1940s Superhero in 'Sparks'
While contorting her body into all sorts of crazy angles in The Last Exorcism, Ashley Bell also was turning a lot of heads for her debut performance. The horror film put her instantly on the map, and she's made the most of it taking on increasingly action-heavy roles in The Marine 3, The Last Exorcism 2, and a brief stint on The Walking Dead's spinoff web series.
Bell gets to take her love of physical roles to a new level in Sparks, playing superhero Lady Heavenly in the adaptation of director Chris Folino's awesome graphic novel. Sparks is a superhero noir in the vein of Watchmen, in which a hero named Ian Sparks is accused of murders he may not have committed. I had a chance to chat with Bell about filming Sparks, the physical demands of playing Lady Heavenly, her love of action movies and childhood growing up as a comic book fan. You can check out the interview below.
Ashley Bell and co-star William Katt will be at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Ashburn, VA tonight, March 21st at 9pm for a live Q&A after the Sparks screening. Go here to get your tickets now!
