One after another we've seen YA adaptations flop in the wake of
Twilight and
The Hunger Games, but there's a chance
Divergent may be one of the few that succeeds. Starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James, and friggin' Kate Winslet (!!!), the adaptation of Veronica Roth's first novel is set in a future when humanity has been divided up into five ideological factions. Woodley plays Beatrice "Tris" Prior, who is labeled a "divergent", and thus doesn't fit in any category, making her dangerous to some in power.
A new clip from the film has been released and it's perhaps a bit spoilery to those unfamiliar with the book, as it shows a key confrontation in the story. So those who want to go in completely cold may want to skip out on this one. Included is a spot introducing us to James' character, Four, the chief love interest and a member of the rebellious Dauntless faction.
