Michael Bay to Produce and Possibly Direct "Real Science" Thriller

This summer's Transformers: Age of Extinction is expected to be Michael Bay's swansong from the franchise, although we've heard that before. It took a little bit of convincing, a lot of money, and some time to helm Pain & Gain for Bay to return, and now we're starting to hear word on what he may be directing next.

THR reports Paramount has picked up an untitled film, said to be a realistic science thriller with underwater elements. Bay will produce through his Platinum Dunes banner and the project is being eyed for him to possibly direct. Further plot details are being held secret but we know it comes from writers Tom Wheeler (Puss in Boots), and Robbie Thompson.

I think we've seen plenty what Bay's idea of "real science" would be; it's called Armageddon.

Bay is also producing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and time travel film, Welcome to Yesterday, both due out later this year.
