*UPDATE* Snoopy and Charlie Brown in First Trailer for the 'Peanuts' Movie
It's been 34 years since the last time Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang were brought to the big screen in a feature film with Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don't Come Back!!). Considering how beloved Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, and the rest of Charles M. Schulz's comic creations are to millions, it's amazing that it has taken this long. But now we are getting our first look at the CG-animated Peanuts movie, and what better way to start than with Charlie Brown and his loyal pup, Snoopy.
The first trailer and photos have been released, and they bear the animated style of Horton Hears a Who! director, Steve Martino. USA Today also spoke with producer and Charles' son, Craig Schulz, who says this is a project that has been tended to for a long time....
"It's long overdue," says Schulz. "The fans have been asking for a long time, but we held off until the time was right......"I'm way more protective than my father would have been. Our No. 1 goal was always to be authentic to his work and legacy."
The script comes from Charles' son, Bryan, and his writing partner Cornelius Uliano, so while this may be a studio effort it is still a family affair. Charles passed away in 2000 after more than fifty years of penning Charlie Brown's misadventures.
The images don't do justice to how perfect this looks when in motion. Everything looks as it should visually, and nothing beats that classic Peanuts piano score.
Peanuts is set to be released on November 6th 2015.
