Watch Rust and Laurie Break-Up in 'True Detective' Deleted Scene

There's going to be a gaping void in the lives of many a True Detective fan this Sunday when their favorite HBO show is nowhere to be found. The mysteries are solved; there will be no more of Rust Cohle's brooding aura and dark philosophies, no more of Martin's philandering. And while we wait to see what's in store for season two without director Cary Fukunaga  or stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, the best we can do is soak in every piece of never-before-seen footage HBO is willing to give.

And so they've released this deleted scene, taken from a "happier" time in Cohle's life. Well, it's actually the end of that supposed happiness, depicting his break-up from girlfriend Laurie, played by Elizabeth Reaser. Let's just say that Cohle is a tough guy to spend extended amounts of time with, and his bleak outlook on the future a major turn-off. Hopefully we'll get more of these over the next few months, at least until the show hits Blu-Ray.
