The Barden Bellas are about to add a new voice. With Elizabeth Banks set to direct Pitch Perfect 2, and much of the cast expected to return, the first big new addition to the cast is Hailee Steinfeld.
Steinfeld will join the returning Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Alexis Knapp, and Brittany Snow in the sequel to 2012's surprise hit, which earned $113M and was the top selling soundtrack of 2013. There is some indication that Steinfeld, who will play one of the Bellas, may take over the franchise if a a third film is green lit, but Variety's story does not mention it. Kay Cannon, who wrote the first film, is also writing the sequel but plot details are still unknown.
This will be the second song-base film for Steinfeld as she'll star in musical romance, Begin Again, opposite Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo. Pitch Perfect 2 opens May 15th 2015.
