Bradley Cooper to Produce Todd Phillips' Next Film, 'Arms & the Dudes'; Jonah Hill May Star
The partnership between Todd Phillips and Bradley Cooper has been beneficial to both over the last few years. The Hangover basically put them both on the map and while the franchise failed to live up to the initial success, it set them both up for a future of basically doing whatever they want. And what they want to do is work together again in another capacity, forming their own production company and developing Phillips' next film, Arms & the Dudes.
THR reports that Cooper will produce the film which is being set up over at Warner Bros. Phillips will direct after picking up the rights to Guy Lawson's Rolling Stone article back in 2011. The true story sounds like it may be a little offbeat like Pain & Gain, following "two stoners from Miami Beach who ended up becoming arms dealers for the U.S. government." There's a bit more to it than that, with 25-year-old David Packouz (now an entrepreneur) and his pal Efraim Diveroli winning a $300M contract to arm Afghan allies, leading to all sorts of congressional hearings and fraud convictions.
It doesn't appear that Cooper is planning to star but Jonah Hill has been loosely attached to it since last November. The plan is to begin filming later this year.
