Kelsey Grammer Hopes to Play Beast Again in Future 'X-men' Film

Kelsey Grammer: Franchise Superstar? That's what it has been like lately, or it will be in the coming weeks when the former Cheers and Frasier star is seen in both Transformers: Age of Extinction and The Expendables 3. And that's on top of a very brief cameo he made only weeks ago in X-men: Days of Future Past, reprising his X-men: The Last Stand role as the older version of Hank "Beast" McCoy. And as it turns out, Grammer was so gung-ho to play the mutant genius again that he reached out to Bryan Singer in requesting the cameo. He tells Collider....

Grammer: “Actually I called Bryan. I bumped into Hugh Jackman and he said, ‘Oh you’re gonna be in another X-Men, mate!’ and I said, ‘No I’m not, I don’t know anything about it.’ So I made a couple of inquiries, got a hold of the script, found out that it’s primarily dealing with the past and that timeline I don’t have a place in, but I saw that at the end there was this coda where he made an appearance. I said, ‘Listen, I really want to be involved,’ so Bryan arranged for it and I had a lovely time.”

While we know X-men: Apocalypse will be set in 1983 and largely focus on the younger band of mutants, the door has clearly been opened for more movies with the present-day team. And if that turns out to be the case Grammer wants to be part of it...

Grammer: “I hope to do another. I hope they find some way to come up with a new story that involves Beast in my timeline.”

X-men: Apocalypse opens May 27th 2016.
