Rob Liefeld Concerned 'X-force' Film May Not Happen

It's hard to tell how much stock to put in comments made by Rob Liefeld. The comics superstar only pipes up when one of his properties is coming to the big screen, and since he helped create X-force, Deadpool, Cable, and a host of other Marvel mutants he's been pretty chatty of late. Last summer, right around the time of Comic-Con, we learned that 20th Century Fox had tapped Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) to write and direct an X-force film, but since we've heard nothing about it really. And Liefeld may have just given us a reason why.

Liefeld took to Twitter and says that basically the announcement of 2016's X-men: Apocalypse has thrown everything out of whack, and now the chances of X-force happening at all is 50/50. The character Apocalypse, seen at the end of X-men: Days of Future Past, is the arch-nemesis of Cable and the two are inextricably linked. What's unclear is why Liefeld thinks an X-force film won't happen. Is it because Wadlow's script involved Apocalypse before Bryan Singer took the character over? Or maybe it has to do with the use of Cable?

Liefeld isn't completely down on the prospect of the film happening, and seems to have taken issue with sites making definitive statements based on his ambiguous comments...

Liefeld's sounding pretty reasonable here in expressing his concern over the movie's status, and he's probably right that things have changed as plans have grown.  But it's too early to say the film is scrapped, and with Comic-Con around the corner we are likely to learn more soon.
