Rocket Raccoon May Have Some Four-Legged Company in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

It should be obvious at this point but there may be Guardians of the Galaxy SPOILERS beyond this point. Got it? Good.

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn recently confirmed that his buddy Nathan Fillion would be making a cameo in the Marvel film, which predictably led to a lot of guessing as to who he might be. While popular opinion steered towards Rich Rider aka Nova, some figured with the abundance of CGI characters we may not actually see Fillion on screen; we may just hear his distinctive voice. According to a source over at Schmoes Know, Fillion will be voicing Cosmo, who happens to be a telepathic Russian cosmonaut canine.

Kevin Feige revealed Cosmo would be in the film some months back during a Q&A but this is the first we've heard about it since. In the comics, Cosmo was a test dog sent up into space by the Russians, where he came aboard the space station Knowhere, gained telepathic abilities and became the chief security officer. So we'll get to hear Nathan Fillion bantering with Bradley Cooper bantering with Vin Diesel which should be worth the price of admission alone. Guardians of the Galaxy opens August 1st.
