Much of the discussion about Marvel's Phase Three has been centered on Ant-Man, and for good reason considering the whole blow up with Edgar Wright and the continued search for a director. But that film is just the beginning of the next phase, and another project in need of a director has been the long-developing Doctor Strange, and now that search is over.
Scott Derrickson, rumored to be on the short list for the job some months back, is the guy to helm the adventures of Sorcerer Supreme, Dr. Stephen Strange. Derrickson should make for a solid fit as he's familiar with the world of the paranormal as director of Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, and the upcoming thriller Deliver Us from Evil. Still no word who will play Strange, a brash and brilliant surgeon who loses everything and begins dabbling in the mystic arts.
Doctor Strange could be slotted for either July 8, 2016 or May 5, 2017, two dates Marvel has been keeping wide open. Derrickson hit up Twitter to confirm it will be next on his list.
