After Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence won our hearts in
Silver Linings Playbook and before they starred in
American Hustle, there was
Serena, the Susanne Bier-directed drama that has been in limbo for more than two years. That's never a good sign, and recently some word started to leak out that the film is pretty terrible, but there's also a counter narrative out there suggesting the opposite. With Magnolia Pictures recently stating we'd finally find out for ourselves early next year, studio chief Eamonn Bowles has confirmed
Serena will get a VOD release on February 26th, followed by a theatrical run on March 27th.
Serena is set in Depression era North Carolina and follows a timber magnate and his wife as they fight to hold on to their business while dealing with personal struggles. When she discovers she can't bear children, her husband's illegitimate son becomes the target of her wrath.
Whether the film is any good or not we'll begin to learn soon when
Serena opens at the BFI London Film Festival, but first here are a batch of brand new photos. [
