Young Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey to Appear in 'X-men: Apocalypse'; Bryan Singer will Direct

Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg and the gang at 20th Century Fox had a clear mission statement when it came to X-men: Days of Future Past, and that was to help us all forget how screwed up the franchise was just a few years ago. While X-men: First Class was a pretty good step towards wiping away the stain of X-men Origins: Wolverine and X-men: The Last Stand, 'DOFP' went the next step and basically retconned a lot of that stuff away, leaving the door open to some very familiar characters returning for 2016's X-men: Apocalypse, which Bryan Singer has now been confirmed to direct.

Deadline reports the news, while also adding that the storyline centered on the arrival of the all-powerful mutant En Sabah Nur aka Apocalypse will also see young Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm making appearances. But as Kinberg stated in his recent Yahoo! Q&A, the film will mostly be about the 'First Class' team...

Kinberg: "The X-Men film that we're working on now as everybody knows is X-Men: Apocalypse and that really follows the stories of the let's say 'First Class' X-Men. Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, many others of that generation of X-Men. So, in future X-Men films? Perhaps, but in 'Apocalypse' it will really be the continuation of the 'past' of 'Days of Future Past.'"

So it sounds like it's possible James Marsden, Famke Janssen, and Halle Berry aren't totally out of the picture if there's a modern day X-men film. X-men: Apocalypse will bring back James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and much of the 'First Class' squad, while rumors persist that Channing Tatum could cameo as Remy Lebeau aka Gambit, leading to a potential solo movie.

Let the casting begin. Could I suggest Jane Levy for a young Jean Grey? X-men: Apocalypse opens May 27th 2016.
